Part of a royal family that helped end wars against Discord, Neo Helios observed rigorous training both physically and magically to make sure he's fit for more attacks of the mythical proportions.

One day, the Iron Pony Fighting Cup is announced, and Neo's trainer and mentor, Princess Luna, invited him to fight, seeing that Neo has unstable powers that can be improved control-wise only on combat with the best of Equestria.

Seeing this to be a chance to impress Scootaloo and her Lady Luna, he never even had to think twice.
